If the draw of history is appealing to you, why not also have a look at the South Devon Railway, originally built in 1872 and now running steam trains and heritage stock over a seven mile route along a former branch line. The route stops for visits at several local attractions like Dartmoor Otters Sanctuary and Butterfly Farm and the Totnes Rare Breeds farm on its travels. Brixham in Devon is also home to a full-size and fully explorable replica of Sir Francis Drake’s ship, the Golden Hind, the first English vessel to circumnavigate the globe.
